ASUU Strike: FG Set To Release N15.89B To ASUU Before Today Ends

The Federal Government in a bid to yield to ASUU‘s demands in order to end the (7) weeks strike, has decided to release the sum of N15.89 billion into the coffers of Universities before today (Wednesday, January 2) ends.

The decision by FG to release this money was made on Monday Evening (December 31st).

Similarly, the Federal government has also set aside N20 billion as revitalisation funds for varsities. The National Universities Commission( NUC) has been directed to work out the modalities for allocating the funds to all institutions.

Meanwhile, the minister of labour & productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige said he will personally meet with ASUU stakeholders soonest and fix a date for the next Negotiation.

Meanwhile, Let us also Remember that, INEC will also have a consultative meeting with ASUU on Friday, January 4, 2019, all in a bid, to see how ASUU could shift grounds, ahead of 2019 elections.

For now, let us all remain prayerful & hopeful that, the strike be called off in no long time.
